– A suspected member of the Basque separatist group ETA was arrested Tuesday in Belgium. The Spanish Interior Ministry announced that Maria Natividad Jauregui Espina, aka Pepona, was wanted for several murders and was on the run since 1979.

In the mid- fifties, Pepona escaped two European arrest warrants for murder and terrorism. Under the Vizcaya command, Pepona and her cronies are responsible for several terrorist attacks against the Spanish security forces.

The woman was arrested at 18:30 in Ghent , according to the Spanish authorities.

ETA , which is seen by the EU and the U.S. as a terrorist organization, is blamed for 829 deaths during forty years of armed struggle for the independence of the Basque Country.
