The European Commission plans to ban one of the world famous perfumes, the luxury perfume Chanel No. 5 due to its chemical substances ethanol and chloro ethanol and HICC or lyral, a floral scent of lily and cyclamen. The first two are better known as tree and oak moss.  The fragrance might be the cause of skin and respiratory allergies. The EU estimates that 1 to 3 percent of the European population suffers from the said allergies. Neven Mimica, the EU Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, said that the ban in principle could be approved. There will be a transitional period for the manufacturers till 2015.

– Royal news for today: The four children of King Filip and Queen Matilda of Belgium permanently get added protection, specially for Crown Princess Elizabeth. After threatening letters in December, the security was increased and maintained but no additional cost for the kingdom. There is only re-arrangement of people and its resources.

– Meanwhile, almost the entire royal family met Sunday on the engagement of Prince Amedeo (27), the eldest son of Princess Astrid (sister of King Filip) and Prince Lorenz to Elisabetta Maria Rosboch von Wolkenstein (26), an Italian journalist. The engagement took place in Villa Schonenberg in Brussels, where Princess Astrid and her family live. Only Queen Fabiola was absent due to health reasons. Prince Laurent arrived late, right after the pictorial.

King Filip, godfather of Amedeo, Queen Matilda, King Albert and Queen Paola attended the party. Elisabetta ‘s parents also made their way to Brussels. The parents of the young couple said they were delighted about the engagement. The wedding will probably take place this summer, but no place or date yet has been announced from the palace.

– Britain’s Prince Harry has started racing at the Goodwood circuit with an old Aston Martin. He really wants to draw attention to one of his charities, which he wants to fully support, the “wounded war veterans”. The Endeavour Fund Prince Harry is there for British soldiers who have been injured. Its main mission is to recover the confidence and fighting spirit of the wounded soldiers. Prince Harry even went to the South Pole to support this charity.
